Fun Fest/Tiny Tots

All of my summer commitments are over... such a relief! Not that I didn't enjoy them, but, they were both a lot of work, especially Fun Fest, 4 people trying to put together something that big... we were busy, busy... Good thing, we all worked pretty well together. A lot of people from the community said how they enjoyed it and thought we should continue it every year, it was a nice thing to hear!

I loved what Mike Welu wrote on Facebook, it pretty much summed up our day events:
so yesterday Milroy had an event, called the fun-fest....
I was in the park at 2pm, and ron coudron was sitting next to me, and he said, "you know mike, this is like norman Rockwell".....
and he was right.....
the park had a lot of people in it, using up all areas of the park, but not too crowded....
there was food being sold in the shelter, and eaten on picnic tables in the shelter, and under the trees, there was a stand selling cold beer, there was an organized volleyball tournament, an organized bean bag toss tournament, kids shooting hoops, kids on the swing, and slides, a group having a water fight, some guys preparing for activities later in the day, there were families sitting together on chairs, or sitting on the grass, there was a petting zoo with little kids getting to know baby animals, local people, and people who used to live here, but now live farther away, even from texas....old ladies on chairs watching their grand-kids, people leaning on trees, talking and watching the activities...the weather was warm and humid, just like summer should be....but not too bad......if norman Rockwell ever painted a park scene, that would be it right there.....

We did make quite a bit of money which will be donated towards the new playground equipment.... it was very, very nice to see the support from the community. Those people that have been bashing what we are doing, I seriously hope to never see you at the park with your own families, grandkids, kids, or whatever the case may be. Someone cared enough when you were small to have equipment for you, why don't you do the same for the next generation of children?
